I don’t know how I’ve managed to narrow down these pictures to a manageable selection for a blog post! Cassie & Phil’s New Year’s Eve-eve wedding was the most beautiful, joyous occasion and everything I love about weddings – friends, family thoroughly relishing time spent together in celebration. How else can I put across the feel of this wedding day – great food, log fires, sparkles, Christmas crackers, freezing fog, a real sense of two families joining together. Cassie grew up in New York, and Phil is a true Englishman, so there were many American relatives enjoying an extended Christmas and New Year vacation in the UK, topped off by this fantastic party which they christened ‘The Royal Wedding’! Kirtlington Park, an 18th century country house in between Woodstock and Kidlington in Oxfordshire, is such a wonderful setting with artistic & elegant room after room, and Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped grounds. Darcey Bussell got married there, and the Saloon where the wedding ceremonies take place displays coronation portraits of William and Mary – the only such portraits outside of Windsor Castle. I can only imagine how glorious all this would be on a summer’s day, but for a chilly and fog-bound day in midwinter it was absolutely perfect.
I’m so grateful to fellow photographer and friend Sharron for coming along to assist on this wedding day. Suppliers include the wonderful Daisies Flower Shop – so lovely to see them again for the second time; Nostalgia Travel who brought a busload of guests over to the house in a vintage Leyland double decker; expert and delicious catering by Passion For Food; the evening party band were Happy Hour.
Phil & Cassie left me such a lovely review – as a wedding photographer you tend to heavily invest a piece of your creative heart in each wedding day, and it really means a great deal to hear that the photographs are being enjoyed!
“A very heartfelt thank you to Julie for her work on our wedding day at Kirtlington Park. The photos captured of the ceremony, reception, and venue are all gorgeous and we can now keep reliving such a wonderful day over and over through these photos. The video montage of pictures put together is so touching and beautiful, Phil and I can’t stop watching it! Julie was so easy to work with & has a wonderfully calming presence about her. We can’t say enough great things about her and her work. Thank you again – we are forever grateful.”
